LAND
On the top of the mountain, with an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, the soil is sandy-calcareous with a high proportion of stone and pebble elements. It is made up of 70% sandy and 30% stone and pebble elements.
On
the bottom of the valley with an altitude of 400-500 meters above the
sea level, the soil is sandy-calceoureus with high proportion of limestone
and rich in humus. It is made up of 40% limestone, 50% clay and 10% sandy.
This means that at ‘Bodegas Los Frailes’ we are dealing with a vineyard possessing the two principal characteristics associated with good wine-growing land, stone and limestone, forming a permeable base with good moisture retention.
