Peñin review 2018

The prestigious and well-known “Guia Peñia 2019” supported our efforts by awarding scores of 93, 92 and 91. Also some other wines from selected single vineyards have been classified as excellent scoring 90 points and above.

In the most recently published article, 10 May 2019, Guia Peñn was mentioning Bodegas Los Frailes as the reference winery among unique wines in Valencia region.

“In order to taste and enjoy unique wines from Valencia region, no better than visiting Rafael Cambra, Celler del Roure or Casa Los Frailes. It is precisely the latter, Casa Los Frailes that we tasted two great and exceptional wines. The winery is located 80 km from the Mediterranean Sea. It is placed inside the landscape of “Els Alforins”, in the sub-region of Vall d’Albaida with altiture of 700 metres. Two years ago they conducted a thorought effort to map the soils in their estate and learing deeply and in detailed about each soil type. First result, three single-vineyard very distinctive wines with assertive personality. Los Frailes Dolomitas 2016 (93 points), a 100% Monastrell wine, expressing nuances from pebble and limestones conglomerate soils. Then Los Frailes Caliza 2016 (92 points), coming from the vineyard called “La parada de tordos” (in English, “Bird Hunt Stop”), at 600 mts above sea-level, with yellow limestone soil. Doubtless, the first vintage of such two wines have been an absolute success and we are sure upcoming vintages would be even better”
